Update for Windows Mail Junk E-mail Filter [May 2009] (KB905866)
-requires wga-
and the every month windows malicious removal tool
Mike, you replied to an April blog post about May events. The May Patch Tuesday reminder is at:
http://computerandonlinesecurity.com/patches-updates-microsoft/microsoft-patches-updates-may-12-2009/
Both of the updates you mentioned are announced each month on patch Tuesday.
In fact what Microsoft actually says about updates to the Malicious Software Removal Tool is this: “Microsoft releases an updated version of this tool on the second Tuesday of each month, and as needed to respond to security incidents.”
KB905866 on the Junk E-mail Filter was published by Microsoft on May 11, only the day before patch Tuesday.
And by the way, there is a way to get around the WGA, but it is convoluted, there are some downsides, and I’m not going to go into it here. If you want to look into it just remember that “Google is your friend”
